Key Laboratory of Evolutionary Systematics of Vertebrates is based on paleontology, comparative anatomy and morphological, using multi-disciplinary integrated approach to study the formation and the development of vertebrate, reconstructing phylogeny of vertebrate, revealing important biological taxa of the origin, evolution , extinction of vertebrate and explore the relationship between biological and environmental; The lab takes on the major national project actively, mainly in the evolution of Earth and how to protect biodiversity and how to use resources reasonablely.

The Laboratory is equiped with electron microscope and precision cutting machine, grinding machine, polarized light microscopy, laser scanning confocal microscope and other related equipment.

Recently "high-resolution CT tomography laboratory" is established. 3D Micro-computed tomography is a new micro-focus X-ray imaging principle of ultra-high-resolution three-dimensional imaging device. You can obtain high-precision three-dimensional image and it can show a detailed three-dimensional information within the sample that you do not destroy the case of the sample.
